Chinese / Portuguese, born in 1988, Hyuè /:Yue Huang / is a contemporary jewellery and object artist whose work explores themes of identity through material experimentation and personal inquiry.

From 2018 to 2022, Hyuè attended the Bachelor and Master programs at Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, Italy; where he received training in traditional goldsmithing techniques and contemporary jewellery practices, with a focus on Cultural Identity.

Now based in Lagos, Portugal, his practice is driven by a continuous process of research and making, where materials become tools for reflection, transformation and narrative. Through his jewellery and objects, Hyuè seeks to navigate the complex layers of belonging, memory and self.

“ I am always intrested in thinking and discovering the quality and duality of all materials; whether it is about the defination, the symbolical meaning, the functionality, the elements it contains, to use or to be used, the good and the bad, the Yin and Yang etc. It’s human like, it’s about identity. Testing it’s boundry and limitation, it’s an enjoyble process to me, I get my feeling and inspiration from it, and it always reflect who I am.“
